Welcome home.
In the heart of Tomar stands the Cine-Teatro Paraíso — a place where time folds, memory is celebrated, and the future is written on stage and screen. The current building dates back to its official inauguration on March 24, 1924, on the very same site where, since the 19th century, voices and silences have met.
Here once stood the old Teatro Nabantino, restored in 1876, which offered the people of Tomar their first cinematic experience in 1901.
Location
A space for culture, for community
With around 400 seats, the Cine-Teatro Paraíso is more than just a venue — it’s a stage for encounters where music, cinema, theatre, and dance come together. It is a space built on commitment: to cultivate audiences, to engage schools, to promote local talent, and to welcome the city and the region.
Behind its elegant façade lies a hall where history still breathes — from the first flicker of the projector in 1901 to today’s concerts, film screenings, and performances. It is a place where heritage becomes possibility.
We invite you to be part of this movement: to watch, to feel, to take part. Because Cine-Teatro Paraíso celebrates the present, honours the past, and embraces what is yet to come.
